Remodelling of the Hotel Neptuno: Valencian interior design on the Mediterranean

The four-star Hotel Neptuno is a city hotel yet stands right on the beach in Valencia. The recent remodelling undertaken by renowned interior designer Julio Guixeres features a fusion of cutting-edge design, artworks by celebrated Valencian creators, and the MDi collections by Inalco – Fusión and Larsen – in a contemporary space that invites guests to enjoy the Mediterranean breezes in an atmosphere of infinite tranquillity.

To achieve this airy space opening out to the sea, the first and most important action of the refurbishment was to integrate the hotel’s former lounge with the terrace, now with a separate entrance that helps to give it its own identity. The discerning décor and a new layout have created two very distinct spaces: a lounge and a lunch venue. However, although Julio Guixeres’ interior design has created two independent spaces, both of them exude a feeling of consistency in every feature.

Furniture and lighting by leading international brands harmonize with the exquisite designs and textures of the MDi collections by Inalco chosen especially for this project. Eschewing all ostentation, Inalco’s MDi Fusion collection was used for the flooring, a design with a distinctive personality in tones that convey the beauty of the sea bed. The Iris shade of Fusión contrasts with the classic beauty and purity of the MDi Larsen collection used on the walls and bar tops. The combination of these surfaces in MDi by Inalco with natural wood and select design features creates an ambience that invites guests to enjoy a very different experience alongside the Mediterranean.

Another striking feature of this project is the spectacular dividing panel created by ceramic tiles in different designs. Not only does it pay tribute to traditional Valencian craftsmanship but also makes a highly practical feature that allows the light to filter through to the refurbished Tridente Restaurant, headed by chef Miguel Óscar Verdú. The sophisticated interior design imbues the whole hotel with a soothing atmosphere that is further enhanced with paintings and sculptures by great Valencian artists, notably Ripollés, Antonio de Felipe, Miquel Navarro, Andreu Alfaro, and Willy Ramos, among others.
